E 8 a in the the archive of the Royal Library is an internal document with records of books and manuscripts in the library of king Frederik III. The document is anonymous and undated, but can be identified as written by the king’s librarian Peder Schumacher (later Griffenfeld) at the end of 1665

The document includes a list of 45 manuscripts, datable or dated from around 1000 to 1665. It is the earliest known list of manuscripts in the kings library, and reflects the historical nucleus of the collection of manuscripts in the Royal Library
