GKS 1610 4º: Book of Hours

This book of hours, which has belonged to count Philippe of Bethune, consists of parts from three diffent books of hours. One fragment has 3 initials (1r, 11r, 20r). Another fragment has 2 initials (3r, 4r), which are supposed to come from the same workshop and probably have been made in the studio of Jean Fouquet in Tours. The third fragment with 11 miniatures is part of a book of hours, probably made in a Rouen-studio at the end of the 15th century.

The manuscript was bought in Paris 1743 by Terkel Klevenfeldt, who later on gave it to the Danish king.

Parchment, 76 ff.; 17,4 x 12 cm. * France 1475-1500.
